 Gandalf's fire-spell

Listen to the text

Naur an edraith ammen! Naur dan i ngaurhoth!

Fire be for the saving of us! Fire against the werewolf-host!

Gandalf used this invocation to drive back an attack in the book II, chapter 4 of The Lord of the Rings. In the preceding chapter, he already used the first sentence to light a fire in the snow of Caradhras. A translation of this is given in The Treason of Isengard, p. 175. The rest is interpreted by comparison with other writings of Tolkien about his invented languages.
