The doors of Durin, lord of Moria: say "friend" and enter. I, Narvi, made them: Celebrimbor of hollin drew these signs. |
The inscription on the doors of Moria, engraved in tengwar in the mode of Beleriand and transcribed into the Latin alphabet, is reproduced in The Lord of the Rings, book II, chapter 4. It is interpreted in the tale.
