Beyond the stars
#1
There is a song beyond the stars,
Though I don’t know exactly where -
And I will wander woeful in the night afar
For ever seeking a lost calling.
And finding it at last, will I find thee too?
For aeons and aeons have I lost thee, thinking
– what a folly! – that life was long;
but thou were – alas! – as a mist in the Sun.
For long now did I walk, sad and joyless,
And nowhere could I find thee, nor in heavens,
Nor in meads, nor in barrows
– for as a breeze thou vanished before me.
But there is a song beyond the stars,
And though I don’t know the reason why,
I wonder thoughtfully in the night afar
– hearing for ever thy last calling.
