A TRIP THROUGH MIDDLE EARTH - WITH ARTISTS AND THEIR ARTWORKS
OF THE GREISINGER MIDDLE EARTH COLLECTION
In November a unique collection of paintings will be presented in Lucca, Italy, at the festival “Lucca Comics and Games”, the third most popular fair in the world of that kind. There will be thirty-five paintings and twelve original drawings, which will be presented as a world premiere, together with many different collectibles which are connected with Middle Earth.
The Greisinger Middle Earth Collection, housed in Jenins, Switzerland, is the largest and most important collection of works inspired by the mind of J.R.R Tolkien worldwide. This museum is purpose-built. Therefore it gives visitors the feeling that they dwell in Middle Earth. It will be opened in September 2013.
In Lucca the public can enjoy the creations from a period of over forty years’ Middle Earth history with illustrations from many great interpreters of Tolkien’s World. The works of artists such as Chris Achilleos, Cor Blok, Brothers Hildebrandt, Donato Giancola, Roger Garland, Stephen Hickman, Tim Kirk, Alan Lee, Rodney Matthews, Ian Miller, Angelo Montanini, Ted Nasmith, David Wenzel and many others will be displayed. These artworks have become milestones in the collective imagination, and give the visitors an exciting adventure to Middle Earth.
