Ce qui revient à dire qu'ils ont le choix tout en ne l'ayant pas car ils ne peuvent pas rester Elfes en Terres du Milieu. Et comme ils ne sont pas partis avec Papa Elrond, ils sont devenus mortels. Pour Arwen, non seulement elle choisie le destin de Luthien mais en plus elle ne peut revenir sur son choix. Elle est donc doublement mortelle (c'est une façon de parler ! ). Quant aux jumeaux, ils choisissent de devenir mortels par amour de la Terre du Milieu. Cf The Tolkien companion de J.E.A. Tyler : "After the Passing of the Three Rings, they remained with the Dunedain of Arnor. Like their sister Arwen - althougt for different reasons - both brothers elected to become of mortal-kind"
