Dans le Silmarillion, on lit que les Vanyar ont participé à la Guerre de la Colère (cf. p.301, éd. HarperCollins: "the host of the Valar prepared for battle; and beneath their white banners marched the Vanyar, the people of Ingwë"); et l'on apprend aussi p.302, que "such few as were left of the three houses of the Elf-friends, Fathers of Men, fought upon the part of the Valar".
En s'appuyant sur ces citations, on peut supposer que certains humains ont eu la possibilité de rencontrer les Vanyar; mais qui? peut-être Elros (mais il s'agit encore d'un demi-elfe)? par ailleurs, on ne connaît aucun autre chef humain de cette période.
