pourquoi Gerolt a-t-il demandé à Tolkien s'il était atheist alors qu'il vient de parler de "l'Un". Est-ce ainsi que les anglais sont athées ? (ce qui expliquerait la gêne de Tolkien)

"Theist", pas "atheist" ;-)

Donc Gerrolt lui demande s'il est déiste. Au sens populaire (simplement croyant en un Créateur, pas nécessairement le Dieu chrétien) ou au sens plus strict de la doctrine déiste (en raison de la réponse de Tolkien "The One"), ça je ne sais pas. [sur la définition stricte du déisme, voir là.]

Manwë aussi se prend une remontrance d'Eru concernant son manque 'd'ESTEL'. je ne susi pas certain que ce soit la plus forte accusation. Miriel est ainsi accusée, mais elle ne s'en tire pas trop mal finalement.

On pourrait argumenter à grand renfort de Home X ;-)

Parlant de Míriel, Nienna indique que l'Espoir est la seule solution à la peur de la mort provoquée par Melkor :

Ce qui lui est reproché, ce n'est pas tant les actes qui découlent de son choix... que la perte de sa foi. Logique dans une optique chrétienne ? Le mécréant mystique que je suis (lol) ne saurait l'affirmer ;-)
