Je vous l'affirme il n'y a rien chez Tolkien qui laisse présumer de son manque de foi...regardez la Biographie de Carpenter et trouver moi un seul élément qui laisse présumer d'un doute suffisamment important qui fasse défaillir la foi de Tolkien...toujours il se remet entre les mains de Dieu quoi qu'il arrive.

Peut-être pas dans la biographie, mais dans les Lettres on a ce petit bout de phrase : [emphase]« ... if there is a God ... »[/emphase] (L, p.51).

Où est passé le clergé dans l'oeuvre de Tolkien ?

Bon, encore une Lettre (décidément, à cette allure, je vais toutes les citer ;-)) où il est écrit qu'Aragorn va restaurer la lignée interrompue des rois-prêtres du Gondor :

Ce passage ce trouve bien à la fin du SdA, avant le mariage d'Aragorn.

Derrière les apparences, chercher la vérité (du Légendaire?? )n'est pas toujours chose simple, surtout lorsqu'on a tendance d'y projeter ces propres fantasmes. Mais poser des questions au texte, où est passé le clergé par ex ou quelle est la fonction de TB dans la structure narrative, c'est sans doute tout aussi intéressant ;-))
