Un autre cas particulier: celui de Finrod Felagund, fils de Finarfin, à propos duquel on lit dans le Silmarillion (chapitre 19 OF BEREN AND LUTHIEN): "They buried the body of Felagund upon the hill-top of his own isle, and it was clean again; and the green grave of Finrod Finarfin's son, fairest of all the princes of the Elves, remained inviolate, until the land was changed and broken, and foundered under destroying seas. But Finrod walks with Finarfin his father beneath the trees in Eldamar".

C'est un cas d'elfe dont la tombe est restée inviolée en TdM (ses restes s'y trouvent) mais dont l'âme n'est pas restée dans les cavernes de Mandos et qui a vraisemblablement retrouvé une enveloppe physique en Eldamar. Contrairement à Glorfindel, il ne retourne cependant pas en TdM.

NB: c'est a priori fréquent pour les elfes (cf. le fuseauCavernes de Mandos).

Sinon, à propos de Glorfindel, le sujet a été évoqué dans un fuseau des archives et dans les fuseaux Glorfindel et surtout Glorfindel (même titre mais contenu différent) dont je retiens, notamment, le dernier post de Fangorn qui nous explique que tout n'est pas si clair...

A propos du problème de double nom évoqué par Cédric, un passage sur ce sujet se trouve dans HoME XII (The People of Middle-Earth) - p.379-380.

L'extrait que cite Christopher Tolkien ne tranche pas complètement mais il montre que JRRT semblait vraiment avoir exclu, dans un premier temps, que deux elfes de grande importance ait le même nom. Ce passage est extrait du chapitre XIII "Last Writings - Of Glorfindel, Cirdan and other matters":

"This difficulty, far more serious than the linguistic one, may be considered first. At any rate what at first sight may seem the simplest solution must be abandoned : sc. that we have merely a reduplication of names, and that Glorfindel of Gondolin and Glorfindel of Rivendell were different persons. This repetition of so striking a name, though possible, would not be credible [en note, à cette phrase, Christopher Tolkien précise que son père avait ensuite écrit dans la marge "Why not?"]. No other major character in the Elvish legends as reported in the Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings has a name borne by another Elvish person of importance."

La note en marge que cite Christopher Tolkien ("Why not?") montre que Tolkien n'était pas sûr de cette solution. On comprend néanmoins que JRRT a penché pour cette option puis il s'est demandé si elle tenait le coup ,.....et malheureusement ça s'est arrêté là. Si sa reflexion est allée plus loin, il ne l'a pas écrit... pour notre plus grand désespoir.
