Telle que ta question est formulée, chère Feuille de Niggle, ça donne l'impression d'une confusion entre le personnage du Thain et celui de Pippin, non ?
En fait, le Thain est Paladin II, le propre père de Pippin. C'est effectivement lui qui soulève son pays contre les brigands de Sharcoux après la nouvelle de la bataille de Lézeau. Et il envoie son fils en émissaire auprès des hobbits révoltés de Hobbitebourg-Lézeau.
Rien d'étrange ou d'anormal, donc.
