Dans The Lost Road, chapitre IV, Elendil dit à son fils Herendil :
"of old the Lords themselves would walk at times in the gardens that we named for them. There we set their images, fashioned by Eressëans who had beheld them, as the pictures of friends beloved" (HoMe 5 p. 77).
