Merci Jérôme de cette remarque sur l'aspect traductif de Ainur / the holy ones.<br>La question du rapport the One / Holy Ones est étudiée par Marjorie Burns dans son article dans le premier numéro spécial de la revue Arda (Between Faith and Fiction). C'est en pensant à cet article que j'ai utilisé "uniques". <br>Marjorie Burns écrit : "The Silmarillion opens with Eru, the One, an image not all incompatible with monotheistic belief. But then - immediately following this - we hear how the One created the Holy Ones. These are the Ainur, the "offspring of [Eru's] thought (...) with him before aught else was made" (S Ain. § 1). He is "the One" ; they are the "Ones", closely related titles, which suggests that the Ainur are, paradoxically, the plurality of Eru's singular state. They are the "s's" added to his indivisibility" (M. Burns, "All in One, One in All", in N.-I.
