Sans prétendre répondre à la question du qualificatif "Sans Père", il y a une lettre de Tolkien datant apparemment de la fin 1968 qui clarifie le rapport entre Bombadil et Treebeard :

Je pense que Hyarion appréciera de voir Tolkien affirmer qu'il ne sais pas lui-même qui est Tom Bombadil, même s'il pourrait "faire des suppositions".
