Etonnement sur la durée du Premier Âge

Je déterre ce message car je viens de réaliser que j'avais une très mauvaise connaissance de la durée du 1er Age et je lis ici que... je ne suis pas la seule. J'avais été conforté dans l'idée que le 1er Age débutait avec l'eveil des Humains et l'apparition du Soleil notamment à cause de l'article de Tolkiendil sur le sujet :

Or, je viens de chercher dans le légendaire à retrouver une mention du fait que le 1er Age commençait avec le 1er lever de soleil et l'éveil des Humains... en vain. Donc si vous en avez, je suis très intéressée.

Tolkien Gateway ne semble pas non plus utiliser ce terme et ne fait pas commencer le 1er Age avec ces évènements, mais avec l'éveil des Elfes !

Et de fait :

The title of this second part, The War of the Jewels, is an expression that my father often used of the last six centuries of the First Age: the history of Beleriand after the return of Morgoth to Middle-earth and the coming of the Noldor, until its end. 

soit "La Guerre des Joyaux est une expression que mon père a souvent utilisé pour les 6 derniers siècles du 1er Age" ce qui correspond à la période entre l'arrivée des Noldor en exil et la fin de la Bataille de la Colère, soit ce qu'on appelle (appelait ?) "le 1er Age". Or, on ne parle pas des "x dernières années d'une période" quand la période en question compte également x années. La période est forcément considéré comme plus longue, non ?

In the manuscript as it was originally written the Elder Days began with the Awakening of the Elves: Here begin the Elder Days, or the First Age of the Children of Ilúvatar -, but the Elder Days was struck out and does not appear in the typescript. Further on in The Tale of Years there is recorded a difference in application of the term 'Elder Days' in respect of their ending (a difference not, to my knowledge, found elsewhere): after the entry for V.Y.1500 'Fingolfin and Inglor cross the Straits of Ice' (this being the date in the Grey Annals, p. 29) it is said in the manuscript:

Here end the Elder Days with the new reckoning of time, according to some. But most lore-masters give that name also to the years of the war with Morgoth until his overthrow and casting forth.

Je comprends que les Elder Days (Jours Anciens) après avoir désigné la même chose que le "First Age" (of the Children of Ilúvatar) a désigné, pour certains érudits, le début de ce 1er Age, jusqu'en 1500 des années valiennes (soit la fin de la marche à travers Helcaraxë et le 1er lever des nouveaux astres).

Mais on a de nouveau "Ici commença les Jours Anciens le Premier Age des Enfants d'Ilúvatar" avec l'éveil des Elfes.

The High-elven was an ancient tongue of Eldamar beyond the Sea, the first to be recorded in writing. It was no longer a birth-tongue but had become, as it were, an 'Elven-latin', still used for ceremony, and for high matters of lore and song, by the High Elves, who had returned in exile to Middle-earth at the end of the First Age.

soit "Les Haut-Elfes sont revenus en exil en Terre du Milieu à la fin du Premier Age."

Si on considère que le 1er Age commence avec le lever du Soleil, cela entre en contradiction avec ces mots puisque c'est aussi à ce moment-là que les Haut-Elfes reviennent en TdM en exil.

Bref, j'ai l'impression qu'il faut parler de "Premier Age des Enfants d'Ilúvatar" et le faire commencer avec l'éveil des Elfes, non ?

Et comme il y a un changement drastique de décompte du temps durant cet age, on peut, par exemple, parler des "Années du Soleil du 1er Age" en lieu et place de ce qu'on appelait "le 1er Age".

(j'ai fait attention à prendre des références antérieures au grands changements de conceptions de la fin des années 50)
