Il renvoyait à un article de publié en octobre 1895 dans le Yale Journal Law :

Puissent juge et avocats se comporter en "hommes" (et femmes) bien "habillés", afin que le droit, demain et, quoiqu'il advienne demain, finalement, rencontre la justice.
Ce vœu est l'occasion de rappeler le génie de Schulz, lequel ne citait pas gratuitement "The lawyer is evermore the leader in society" : toute son œuvre appelle son lecteur à plus d'humanité vivifiée par la culture, c'est-à-dire une compassion soutenue par l'esprit critique, pour rendre la société vivable. Vive Schulz.
Oui, encore bon courage à toi Vincent, mais aussi justice pour toi, ami,
car tu es pour beaucoup d'entre nous un leader,
c'est-à-dire un des représentants de l'humanisme prôné par Schulz et Brewer,
permettant à une société d'être non seulement humaine mais aussi vivifiée par la culture,
un de ceux qui "élèvent le niveau" (lift the standard) et nous avec.
